dorfvir:

The wince the other gives seemingly
resonates inside of the warden, his
body reacting to his friend’s pain.

Bare feet move forward slowly, a hand
extending as he is finally close enough
to touch Tamlen’s hair, sliding fingers
through the golden strands softly, gently.

Theven goes to his knees, free hand
cupping the other’s cheek, thumb brushing
just as softly.

“Nothing’s wrong with me.” He whispers,
eyes threatening to fill with tears. Tamlen’s
in pain, and since what had transpired last time…

       He swallows around the lump,
       shivering at the memories.
             Now isn’t the time.

     ”But something’s wrong with you,
      isn’t there, lath?”

he knows what theven is feeling,
and even if that smile is placed
crookedly on his face, it doesn’t
mean he means to leave it there.

in fact, after a moment, it fades.
the older leans into the touch,
chest rising and falling with the
        slowest exhale of a sigh.

                  ’ i’ll be fine, lethallin…
                    it’s just a headache,
                    nothing more than that. ’
